It’s amazing how much fun you can have with a fishing pole on Marco Island – whether you’re an avid fisherman or not.
Thanks to the very knowledgeable folks in the Ace Hardware Store on San Marco, we had a very delightful day of fishing with no prior salt water fishing experience or equipment! They outfitted two of us with licenses, poles, bait, and all the equipment we needed for a day of fishing fun for under $100! While renting a boat to fish is a great way to access optimal backwater fishing locations, there are so many fantastic fishing spots on Marco that you can walk or drive to! They recommended Tiger Tail Beach for fishing the surf, or the waterways adjacent to Highway 92 over the Goodland bridge. We opted for Highway 92 and sought out the bridges where the waters flow between channels.
